Poetry

What is poetry? What is prose? What does it means to write a poem? How does one write a poem??? In this class we will engage in the analysis of great poems written by Neruda, Mistral, Vallejo, Huidobro, Parra, and Lorca. Students will write short essays applying the trilogy of metaphors, images, and comparison. Students will also write examples of “greguerías”, and open forms of poetry, practicing the Zen of writing poems. We will work on haiku, patoums and sestinas in Spanish.
